Meghann Zenteno

Meghann Zenteno is the Head Band Director at Lake Highlands Junior High School. She oversees the band program at Lake Highlands Junior High School as well as the 6th graders at our feeder elementary campuses (Northlake, Lake Highlands, Thurgood Marshall, Wallace, and White Rock).

Mrs. Zenteno grew up in Midland, TX, where she served as drum major for the Robert E. Lee High School Band and was a member of the Texas All-State Band.  After high school, she attended West Texas A&M University in Canyon, TX where she earned her Bachelor of Music, magna cum laude.  During her studies, Mrs. Zenteno was an active member of the WTAMU Symphonic band, Symphony Orchestra, Clarinet Ensemble and Tau Beta Sigma.  She also served as a Drum Major for the “Sound of West Texas” Buffalo Marching band and was named Outstanding Bandswoman in 2007.

Upon graduation, Mrs. Zenteno returned to Midland where she became the head band director at Alamo Junior High School.  During her 5 years at Alamo, the program doubled in size growing to 300 students. Her bands earned Superior ratings at the Tall City Marching Contest and in UIL Concert and Sightreading events, along with being named Best in Class at the Irons Band Invitational in Lubbock, TX.  Mrs. Zenteno was also named “Teacher of the Year” for the 2011-2012 school year.

In 2012, together with her husband Michael, Mrs. Zenteno put all of her things in storage (minus 4 suitcases) and relocated to Santiago, Chile. After a few months of intensively studying Spanish and seeing the wonders of South America, she worked as the only “native” English as a Foreign Language teacher at Colegio Padre Hurtado y Juanita de los Andes.

Mrs. Zenteno returned to the “band world” and the United States in 2014 as the Assistant Band Director at Lake Highlands Junior High.  During her time in Lake Highlands, the band program has experienced both growth and success.

Mrs. Zenteno lives in Dallas with her husband Michael and their dog Juaco.  When she’s not at school, she enjoys outdoor activities, going to sporting events, and traveling the world every chance she gets.
