Hunter Purvine

Mr. Purvine attended the University of Oklahoma for his Bachelor’s in Music Education, were he performed with the Jazz Ensembles, Trombone Choir, Wind Symphony, Tuba Quartets, Sound of the Sooners Basketball Band, and the Pride of Oklahoma Marching Band, where he served as the Drum Major of the 2016 season. His responsibilities include conducting the Concert Band, teaching beginning brass classes at elementary feeders, and assisting with the Symphonic and Honors Bands.

While in his undergrad, Purvine also had performance opportunities with the Frontier Brass Band of Oklahoma, a British style brass ensemble full of professors and professional players around the state, at several home concerts and state convention performances. He helped to pioneer the first OU Jazz Festival, which continues to grow. During the summer Mr. Purvine has been teaching at drum major and student leadership camps around Oklahoma and Texas, including camps for the Fred J. Miller Summer Clinics. This fall he will be joining the Carrollton Wind Symphony.

Outside of the band hall, you can find Mr. Purvine running trails in and around Dallas or rock climbing.
