Hello, LH Band! The list of All-Region/State etudes for each instrument has been released and can be seen here. If you own the etude book, go ahead and check out this list. If you don’t own the book and you have a private lesson teacher, they probably do and can scan and send to you. The band staff is working to copy the etudes and will let you know when you can come up to pick them up.In any case, we are available to help you if you want to get started. Just shoot us an email and we can set up a time to sit down together and help you start this music. Also, PLEASE be sure you have gotten your physical and that you share the completed form to me before Summer Band. If you need the form, it is here. Thanks, everyone! Mr. Brumley
This email contains several important updates and reminders about Summer Band Camp, as well as a couple of other items of business. Please know that I am always eager to answer questions if any of this requires clarification.
Summer Band activities get into full swing soon! Please see these Important Dates. These rehearsals are crucial to leading the LH Band to an amazing marching season, so please give this document a careful look. These are the same dates that have been on the calendar since last semester, just with a few more details filled in. This is where we will learn a huge portion of our competitive marching show and do initial assignment of marching spots, so attendance is highly important!
Physicals Required for Band Students:
While this was also mentioned beginning last semester, we know you all have LOTS going on, so this is a reminder to get your physical and be sure and have your doctor’s office use the prescribed UIL form, found here. Once complete, please scan and email the form to me at email@example.com. If you are more comfortable doing so, you can also arrange a time to drop off the hard copy to me at the band hall.
Private lessons are happening now and are back in-person! There is no quicker way to improve on your instrument than by way of private lessons, so if you haven’t already enrolled or if you need help getting set up with a teacher, we are here to make that happen. Email Mr. Singleton at firstname.lastname@example.org to get set up.
I’ll be back in touch soon with details about how you can be preparing for Summer Band and what materials you’ll need. In the meantime, reach out anytime with your questions; we are here to help!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I hope you all had a wonderful Spring Break and are excited to come back tomorrow. We have a lot going on this week! Sectionals are updated on the calendar and can be found on the band website: www.lhabc.org/calendar
Tuesday after school:
Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble will have our Side-by-Side rehearsal with the top bands from LHJH and FMJH! 4:45-6:15 on stage and in the LHHS Band Hall. I hear there will be pizza after….
Come see both of the LH Winterguards at the RISD Winterguard Showcase! The show starts at 7pm at Richardson HS and should last around an hour. Admission is FREE!
We are hosting the Berkner and LH cluster junior high bands during the school day for their Pre-UIL and then our high school bands are performing immediately after school for our Pre-UIL. It’s possible that the Wind Ensemble will have to play before school ends! I will have an update on the HS band performance times tomorrow and will send a more detailed schedule.
Dress for pre-UIL will be full tuxedo and formal dress (just like the Winter Concert). Unless someone will be bringing your clothes immediately after school, please plan to bring everything you need to school on Thursday!
Spring Trip payment #3 is also DUE this Friday! You can pay on Charms or by check (made out to LHABC and dropped off in the Band Hall safe). However you make the payment, please make sure to notate your student’s name and “Spring Trip payment”
Wow, what an amazing month this has been so far… football games, 2 marching contests, Varsity Revue, Homecoming, etc! What a great group of kids we have! They have worked so hard all month and it has shown in their contest results and their performances. So proud of all of our Wildcat Band kids! We also have an amazing group of volunteers that have put in lots of time and energy to pull it all off this month – thank you to each and every one of you! Band volunteers rock!!! And finally, thank you to our directors for teaching our kids, being there early and late, and for encouraging our kids to be the best kid they can be. We are so thankful to have such an amazing team of directors!
