Dear Lake Highlands High School Supporter,

Lake Highlands High School has many fine traditions. One that dates back decades is Varsity Revue, a variety show featuring the talents and artistry of our remarkable students. Varsity Revue (VR) is also an important fundraiser for the Lake Highlands Area Band Club, the booster organization to all the bands in the Lake Highlands cluster. In addition to LHHS band, this cluster includes programs at Forest Meadow Junior High and Lake Highlands Junior High.

During Homecoming week, there will be one performance of Varsity Revue. Please mark your calendars now for Thursday, October 21, 2021.

The shows are well attended with as many as 400600 guests each performance. Every guest, upon entering the show, will be given a free printed program. This program highlights personal ads, messages Shout Out’s and advertisements from our community and local businesses. Today we are reaching out to you, offering the opportunity to send your message, show your support, and promote your business by placing an ad in this year’s VR program.

If you are interested in placing an ad, please reply to me via email and fill out the attached order form VR 2021 Ad Form  or go to www.LHABC.org / Fundraisers to download forms. Don’t delay, as the deadline for collection of forms and payment is Friday, October 1st, 2021.

The Lake Highlands Band program appreciates your support! We hope to see you at VR as well as in the printed program!

If you have any questions or comments, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Go, Band!

Important Message from Director – Docusign Forms

Hello, all.

We still have several families who have not submitted the required band participation forms, which will keep us from allowing those students from attending tonight’s game. If this applies to your family, please look at the steps below to solve this issue:

1. Ensure that the student has completed their signing. DocuSign will not auto-send the forms to the parents, who are the second signers, until the student has completed theirs.

2. If the prior step does not work for you, you can manually access the forms here, then sign, scan, and send back to me, even without the student’s signature; we can secure that in class today.

Thanks, everyone!

Band Meal Volunteers Needed!!!!

Many hands make light work. Please consider helping serve a meal to the band on a game or competition day. It’s a fun way to spend time with a great group of teens!

We are still needing a Meals Chairperson to organize all of this if you’re interested. This is a fun job where you get to be with the band! So, Amanda and I are going to do the best we can to steer the ship along with our other duties.  All of that to say, we will most definitely need help! Food set-up, service and clean-up must run efficiently to get the students out in time to get in their uniforms, and on away game and competition days, load up instruments, board the buses and hit the road. Your assistance is key in making all of that happen. If for any reason you can’t make your shift, please try to find a replacement. If you can’t find one, please let one of us know ASAP so we can attempt to get someone to fill in for you.

Our first date is coming up quickly next week on Thursday!  Please view the sign-up below.  Times and locations may be updated as the need arises.

Thanks again,

Summer Marching Important Info

Dear Lake Highlands Band,

I can’t adequately express how excited your band staff is about fully kicking off the 2021 marching season with all of you on Monday! We have been hard at work planning every detail necessary to ensure that the LH Band enjoys its best marching season in years, and we feel confident that you are all in for an incredible experience. While Summer Band Camp will be hard work, we are going to have a blast together and by the time camp is done, the band is going to be in position to put on incredible performances. Please read all of the following information carefully as it will explain exactly where to be and what you’ll need!

Where To Report- All band members (woodwinds, brass, percussion, and color guard) will begin in the main band hall right at 7:30 AM on Monday. You’ll need your instrument/equipment with you as you’ll go right into rehearsal after a short meeting, so arrive before 7:30 as that is the start time, not the arrival time. Leadership Team needs to arrive by 7 AM for the first day.

Physicals- You must have this on file in order to participate in camp. The preferred method is to email this to us before Monday; however, you can turn it in as you check in Monday.

What To Bring- Marching instrument and accessories (reeds, mouthpieces, etc), large water bottle filled with water (LH Band water bottle if you already have it), lots of sunscreen. You’ll be provided a binder filled with all music you’ll need, so just bring a pencil to put in your band binder.

What To Wear- T-shirt, shorts, athletic shoes and socks, hat and/or sunglasses HIGHLY recommended.

Meals- Eat a substantial breakfast eveyday before you arrive, and avoid dairy as this does not set you up to feel your best when working in the heat. Breakfast is a MAJOR part of settting yourself up for success at camp! During the lunch break, (11:00 AM-12:30 PM) students may leave campus with parents or other students for lunch or may bring a lunch and stay on campus; whatever each family is most comfortable with!

Things You’ll Need Soon- fanny pack. (yes, actually) You’ll need a fanny pack by the second Monday of Summer Band, August 2. This will hold your smartphone which you’ll need in order to reference the drill pages that will help you learn our show. Here is an example of something like what you’ll need. You’ll also need a smartphone by Monday, August 2. Though we know most of our students have one, if you don’t, let us know and we’ll help you get an old one to be used only for drill rehearsals. A flip folder. You’ll need this before August 13. If you don’t have one, you’ll have an opportunity to purchase one at Band Registration on July 31.

Thanks, everyone, and reach out with any questions you may have. We can’t wait to start the 2021 Lake Highlands Band Season!

LHHS Wildcat Band – Cunningham Peach Sale

Order Now for Delivery on August 21st (Saturday)

We are very excited to bring to our community the opportunity to buy Cunningham Peaches and support the Lake Highlands High School Marching Band at the same time! If you have not had these peaches before, you are in for a treat. These peaches are grown on a family owned orchard in Palisade, Colorado where the fruit is hand picked and packed. Picking by hand insures the fruit may hang on the tree as long as possible in order to maximize the natural sweetness.

The peaches will be available for pick-up from Lake Highlands High School on Saturday, August 21st. Pricing: 1 Box = $28 (Example… 1 for $28, 2 for $56, 3 for $84, etc.)

ALL ORDERS MUST BE PREPAID. Once you receive your order confirmation, please follow the link provided to complete your payment.

Thank you for supporting the band! We hope to see you at a football game, pep rally, community event, competition or concert.

LHABC Meals Chairperson (s) Needed

Did you know….LHABC will be feeding the band before 10 Regular Season Games (1st one on 8/26), any Playoff Games, 3 Marching Competitions (1-2 meals per), and all of the jr high band students from LHJH and FMJH at Jr High Night? That’s a minimum of 2850 meals during the marching season. We currently do not have a Meals Chairperson. This can definitely be a joint / Co-Chairperson position.

If you are interested in serving the band in this vital role, please contact Leigh Ann Murchison lamurchison@ymail.com ASAP. You do not have to cook all of these meals, just be willing to organize them, work with the vendors, direct volunteer helpers and make sure the band gets fed within the allotted budget. It’s a great way to know the students and trust me, you will be their favorite LHABC board member! The way to their hearts….

Summer Band Snacks / Volunteers Needed

Please find the link for Band Camp snacks and volunteer opportunities below.

LHHS Band Camp Snacks 2021We have two requests for your help for our hardworking band kids during summer band camp. 1) Drop off specified snack (see below) 2) Volunteer to help serve snack (15 minute commitment) Snacks can be dropped off (by your band student) in the chaperone room in the band hall at 7am. Please label with your name.  Snacks will remain in the chaperone room until time for snack set up and distribution to students. Thank you for your help!www.signupgenius.com

Thank you for helping make the LHHS Band Camp a success for our hard working kids!

Kind regards,
