Pit Pops Need Volunteers for Games & Competitions

The band needs some more volunteers to help move equipment and instruments to the field this Friday and Saturday. The term Pit Pops is a misnomer. All adult volunteers are welcome. If you are a mom, dad, aunt, uncle, older sibling, neighbor or anyone who loves and supports the band, please sign up to help. The need on Saturday is particularly important as during competitions, there is a strict 5 minute time limit in order to get equipment onto the field, set up and begin the performance, then 2 minutes to exit the field. It’s like the pit crew in F1 racing (except they are in and out in 2-3 seconds). The game on Friday will serve as a dress rehearsal for the full band’s first competition the following day in Midlothian.

Whether or not you volunteer, please come support the band on Saturday at their competition. Seeing and hearing the show amongst a captive audience of marching band enthusiasts is a very different experience than a football game performance.  You can hear every note and focus on every coordinated movement by the Colorguard. You are sure to be impressed with these awesome musicians and performers from our school and others.

Pit Pop Help Needed for Saturday, 9/18/21

ello, LH Band Parents.

The Pit Pops are in need of additional manpower this Saturday, 9/18, to complete the building of the props that will be used for the competition marching show. No prior experience is necessary; the Pit Pops just need anyone willing to help. Here is what you need to know:

-Show up at 10 AM this Saturday, 9/18, on the home side of Wildcat/Ram Stadium.

-Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty with paint, etc.

-Consider bringing work gloves, cleaning rags, and protective eyewear.

This is a chance to really contribnute to the kids’ competitve season, so we hope to have lots of help!

Thanks,

Reagan

Dear Lake Highlands High School Supporter,

Lake Highlands High School has many fine traditions. One that dates back decades is Varsity Revue, a variety show featuring the talents and artistry of our remarkable students. Varsity Revue (VR) is also an important fundraiser for the Lake Highlands Area Band Club, the booster organization to all the bands in the Lake Highlands cluster. In addition to LHHS band, this cluster includes programs at Forest Meadow Junior High and Lake Highlands Junior High.

During Homecoming week, there will be one performance of Varsity Revue. Please mark your calendars now for Thursday, October 21, 2021.

The shows are well attended with as many as 400600 guests each performance. Every guest, upon entering the show, will be given a free printed program. This program highlights personal ads, messages Shout Out’s and advertisements from our community and local businesses. Today we are reaching out to you, offering the opportunity to send your message, show your support, and promote your business by placing an ad in this year’s VR program.

If you are interested in placing an ad, please reply to me via email and fill out the attached order form VR 2021 Ad Form  or go to www.LHABC.org / Fundraisers to download forms. Don’t delay, as the deadline for collection of forms and payment is Friday, October 1st, 2021.

The Lake Highlands Band program appreciates your support! We hope to see you at VR as well as in the printed program!

If you have any questions or comments, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Go, Band!

Important Message from Director – Docusign Forms

Hello, all.

We still have several families who have not submitted the required band participation forms, which will keep us from allowing those students from attending tonight’s game. If this applies to your family, please look at the steps below to solve this issue:

1. Ensure that the student has completed their signing. DocuSign will not auto-send the forms to the parents, who are the second signers, until the student has completed theirs.

2. If the prior step does not work for you, you can manually access the forms here, then sign, scan, and send back to me, even without the student’s signature; we can secure that in class today.

Thanks, everyone!

Band Meal Volunteers Needed!!!!

Many hands make light work. Please consider helping serve a meal to the band on a game or competition day. It’s a fun way to spend time with a great group of teens!

We are still needing a Meals Chairperson to organize all of this if you’re interested. This is a fun job where you get to be with the band! So, Amanda and I are going to do the best we can to steer the ship along with our other duties.  All of that to say, we will most definitely need help! Food set-up, service and clean-up must run efficiently to get the students out in time to get in their uniforms, and on away game and competition days, load up instruments, board the buses and hit the road. Your assistance is key in making all of that happen. If for any reason you can’t make your shift, please try to find a replacement. If you can’t find one, please let one of us know ASAP so we can attempt to get someone to fill in for you.

Our first date is coming up quickly next week on Thursday!  Please view the sign-up below.  Times and locations may be updated as the need arises.

LHHS Band Schedule for Week of Aug 16th

Hello, LH Band and Parents!

For your planning, this email is to let you know of the first week of school rehearsal schedule. That information will be followed by the daily rehearsal schedule through marching season for regular school weeks. A couple of disclaimers – you’ll see that full band and section pictures have been scheduled for Monday, August 16. Typically, this would be scheduled well in advance; however, photographer and facilities issues caused this to be scheduled later than desirable. Also, though the band has rehearsed before school on the first day of school on some years in the past, we are choosing not to do that so that everyone has time to have a calm start to the day. For this reason, we are holding a long rehearsal after school on Friday, August 20.

Monday, August 16- Band Pictures, full band and section. 12 PM to approximately 2 PM (more details to come on this later this week)

Tuesday, August 17- 1st day of school, no before school band. We WILL play during your band class!

Wednesday, August 18- Regular marching band rehearsal schedule begins- 6:45 AM-8:15 AM. (Dress as you have been for Summer Band, bring a change of the clothes for the school day) Students will have access to the PE locker rooms to change in a private area.

Thursday, August 19- Band from 6:45 AM-8:15 AM

Friday, August 20- No morning band, rehearsal from 5:00 PM-7:30 PM

On a normal, 5-day school week with a Friday football game, marching band rehearsal will be:

Monday through Friday- 6:45 AM-8:15 AM

On a week with a Thursday football game:

Monday through Thursday- 6:45 AM-8:15 AM

Friday morning- no rehearsal

Friday afternoon- Rehearsal from 5:00-7:30 PM.

Also, always check the band calendar posted on lhabc.org for special rehearsals (For example, the Saturday after Labor Day, 9/11/21)

As always, please reach out if I can be of assistance. We are having a blast so far and it is only going to get better!

Thanks,

Reagan Brumley

Wildcat Band Registration July 31

Hello, all!
Just a reminder that Band Registration is tomorrow. This is an important event as your sizing for all of your students’ gear for the year will take place and payments and/or payment plans for fees will be paid/arranged. A communication earlier this week alluded to documents coming from me via DocuSign. These forms are not essential to the registration process and are primarily permission forms which will come to you later as we are working through a technical difficulty with the DocuSign program.
As a reminder for registration times tomorrow:

9th graders and a parent- 9 AM

10th graders and a parent- 10 AM

11th graders and a parent- 11 AM

12th graders and a parent- 12 PM

Thanks, everyone!
