Hello Band Family,
Welcome to the 2021-2022 Lake Highlands High School Wildcat Band! Parents/Guardians, if you have a student in band or color guard (they are collectively referred to as “The Band”), you are automatically part of the Lake Highlands Area Band Club. There are no membership dues and no official sign-up required. We are so happy to have you as a part of our band family. All we ask of you is to be supportive of the students and directors, cheer them on and when possible, help by volunteering. You can be involved as much as you choose. We want and need your help. In addition, it takes significant funding to produce our competition show, outfit, feed and provide many
other areas of support for our band. Please stay tuned for several upcoming fundraisers over the coming months, the first to be kicked-off during band camp. We hope you will spread the word to friends, family, and any potential corporate sponsors you may know.
We are so excited to welcome our new Head Director, Reagan Brumley, and new Assistant Director Claire Pittman. In addition, we are thrilled to welcome back Assistant Director Aaron Singleton, Percussion Director Andrew Smit and Color Guard Director Danny Martinez! As you can imagine, coming out of restrictive COVID protocols and having new staff means a lot of work must happen to get us up and fully functioning again. We want to thank you all for your patience and understanding as we work to do just that. Rest assured, it will all come together, and it is going to be a busy and exciting year for the band!
We are working to update the website (thank you Suzette Potvin) and every effort is made to keep the band calendar updated. If you ever have a question, be sure to reach out to a director or to me and we will get you the answer you are looking for. Band Registration – July 31:
Attendance at band registration is required for all new and returning band and color guard students. At least one parent/guardian should come with their child. Students will be able to officially register for band by filling out required forms, order necessary uniform pieces (marching shoes, summer uniform, wicking shirts/shorts worn under marching uniforms, water jugs, etc.), parents can sign up for volunteer opportunities, pay band fees, purchase spirit wear and more. Stay tuned for specific arrival times based upon grade level.
As volunteer opportunities arise, email notifications and sign-ups will be sent out to the group. RISD requires all volunteers to submit to a background check. Please complete yours today via https://risd.voly.org/.
We have some open positions on our Board. It is important we fill these to fully function as a booster club and toprovide all the necessary support it takes to have a thriving band program.
Openings include: Treasurer, AssistantTreasurer, Meals Coordinator, Raffle Chairperson, Mattress Palooza Fundraiser Chairperson, FMJH Rep.
