Wildcat Band Registration July 31

Hello, all!
Just a reminder that Band Registration is tomorrow. This is an important event as your sizing for all of your students’ gear for the year will take place and payments and/or payment plans for fees will be paid/arranged. A communication earlier this week alluded to documents coming from me via DocuSign. These forms are not essential to the registration process and are primarily permission forms which will come to you later as we are working through a technical difficulty with the DocuSign program.
As a reminder for registration times tomorrow:

9th graders and a parent- 9 AM

10th graders and a parent- 10 AM

11th graders and a parent- 11 AM

12th graders and a parent- 12 PM

Thanks, everyone!

Hello, LH Band Parents.

Up Tempo Fundraiser Coming Soon!!!

Hello, all!

Please see the attached document detailing the band’s biggest fundraiser of the year, UpTempo. Though RISD is incredibly supportive of fine arts, no school district is able to provide for all of the financial needs of a competitive 6A band program. For this reason, every family’s participation in this fundraiser is crucial to being able to provide the experiences these outstanding band students deserve. Please take just a moment to read the attached information to see what is involved, then take some time over the next few days to acquire the contact information necessary to do the event.

As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. We are so appreciative of everything you ALL do to facilitate the incredible program that is the Lake Highlands Band for these wonderful students!

Summer Marching Important Info

Dear Lake Highlands Band,

I can’t adequately express how excited your band staff is about fully kicking off the 2021 marching season with all of you on Monday! We have been hard at work planning every detail necessary to ensure that the LH Band enjoys its best marching season in years, and we feel confident that you are all in for an incredible experience. While Summer Band Camp will be hard work, we are going to have a blast together and by the time camp is done, the band is going to be in position to put on incredible performances. Please read all of the following information carefully as it will explain exactly where to be and what you’ll need!

Where To Report- All band members (woodwinds, brass, percussion, and color guard) will begin in the main band hall right at 7:30 AM on Monday. You’ll need your instrument/equipment with you as you’ll go right into rehearsal after a short meeting, so arrive before 7:30 as that is the start time, not the arrival time. Leadership Team needs to arrive by 7 AM for the first day.

Physicals- You must have this on file in order to participate in camp. The preferred method is to email this to us before Monday; however, you can turn it in as you check in Monday.

What To Bring- Marching instrument and accessories (reeds, mouthpieces, etc), large water bottle filled with water (LH Band water bottle if you already have it), lots of sunscreen. You’ll be provided a binder filled with all music you’ll need, so just bring a pencil to put in your band binder.

What To Wear- T-shirt, shorts, athletic shoes and socks, hat and/or sunglasses HIGHLY recommended.

Meals- Eat a substantial breakfast eveyday before you arrive, and avoid dairy as this does not set you up to feel your best when working in the heat. Breakfast is a MAJOR part of settting yourself up for success at camp! During the lunch break, (11:00 AM-12:30 PM) students may leave campus with parents or other students for lunch or may bring a lunch and stay on campus; whatever each family is most comfortable with!

Things You’ll Need Soon- fanny pack. (yes, actually) You’ll need a fanny pack by the second Monday of Summer Band, August 2. This will hold your smartphone which you’ll need in order to reference the drill pages that will help you learn our show. Here is an example of something like what you’ll need. You’ll also need a smartphone by Monday, August 2. Though we know most of our students have one, if you don’t, let us know and we’ll help you get an old one to be used only for drill rehearsals. A flip folder. You’ll need this before August 13. If you don’t have one, you’ll have an opportunity to purchase one at Band Registration on July 31.

Thanks, everyone, and reach out with any questions you may have. We can’t wait to start the 2021 Lake Highlands Band Season!

LHHS Wildcat Band – Cunningham Peach Sale

Order Now for Delivery on August 21st (Saturday)

We are very excited to bring to our community the opportunity to buy Cunningham Peaches and support the Lake Highlands High School Marching Band at the same time! If you have not had these peaches before, you are in for a treat. These peaches are grown on a family owned orchard in Palisade, Colorado where the fruit is hand picked and packed. Picking by hand insures the fruit may hang on the tree as long as possible in order to maximize the natural sweetness.

The peaches will be available for pick-up from Lake Highlands High School on Saturday, August 21st. Pricing: 1 Box = $28 (Example… 1 for $28, 2 for $56, 3 for $84, etc.)

ALL ORDERS MUST BE PREPAID. Once you receive your order confirmation, please follow the link provided to complete your payment.

Thank you for supporting the band! We hope to see you at a football game, pep rally, community event, competition or concert.

LHABC Meals Chairperson (s) Needed

Did you know….LHABC will be feeding the band before 10 Regular Season Games (1st one on 8/26), any Playoff Games, 3 Marching Competitions (1-2 meals per), and all of the jr high band students from LHJH and FMJH at Jr High Night? That’s a minimum of 2850 meals during the marching season. We currently do not have a Meals Chairperson. This can definitely be a joint / Co-Chairperson position.

If you are interested in serving the band in this vital role, please contact Leigh Ann Murchison lamurchison@ymail.com ASAP. You do not have to cook all of these meals, just be willing to organize them, work with the vendors, direct volunteer helpers and make sure the band gets fed within the allotted budget. It’s a great way to know the students and trust me, you will be their favorite LHABC board member! The way to their hearts….

Hello, LH Band!
The list of All-Region/State etudes for each instrument has been released and can be seen here. If you own the etude book, go ahead and check out this list. If you don’t own the book and you have a private lesson teacher, they probably do and can scan and send to you. The band staff is working to copy the etudes and will let you know when you can come up to pick them up.In any case, we are available to help you if you want to get started. Just shoot us an email and we can set up a time to sit down together and help you start this music.
Also, PLEASE be sure you have gotten your physical and that you share the completed form to me before Summer Band. If you need the form, it is here
Thanks, everyone!

Jazz Class Offered

Hello, LH Band!
At the end of last semester, it did not seem likely that jazz band would be offered as a class during the school day during the 21-22 school year, and it also seemed likely that LH’s wonderful jazz director, Luke Wingfield, would not be returning. I am THRILLED to announce that Mr. Wingfield is on board to return for the 21-22 school year and we have the ability to offer jazz band as a class! The jazz class will be offered 8th period. To help us know if there will be sufficient enrollment to proceed with this plan, please reply to this email to let us know if you are interested. Also, know that we also will offer a 2nd jazz band that is outside of school only if you have an interest in playing in this genre but are not able to take the class.

Thanks, everyone, and please let me know if we can assist with anything.
