Good afternoon LH Band families,

Thank you all SO MUCH for your support of our kids at Friday night’s Parent Preview!  We enjoyed not only seeing our returning parents and former students but also meeting so many new families!

We are gearing up for our first week of school!  Here’s what you need to know going in to this week:

YES – we have marching rehearsal on Monday morning!  Rehearsal begins at 6:45 (NOT 7:00) so please plan to arrive BY 6:30am.  We do this so that we are done at 8:15 and the band has more time to get ready for school.

Every morning this week we will have 6:45-8:15am rehearsal.  It’s important that everyone is on time and prepared for rehearsal each day so that we can be efficient with our time.  Have your instrument, full water bottle and appropriate clothing and footwear for all rehearsals.

The only after-school event this week is the All Sports Pep Rally on Thursday night!  Call time is 5:30 ready to play in the band hall!  The band will be playing at the beginning of this event and then leaving by 6:30pm.  Please plan to pickup at the front circle drive due to the band lot being used as the site of the Pep Rally. Band students are also welcome to stay until the end (approx. 8pm) if they want to eat dinner provided by the Wildcat Club.

Dress is the same as last night’s parent performance: Red Summer Uniform shirt, black shorts, ankle socks and tennis shoes.

NO GAME this week: enjoy the Friday night off!

Saturday: FULL Marching rehearsal 7-11am

Due to school starting earlier for RISD than in years past (last Monday of August has been traditionally a universal start day), UIL has amended the 8-hour rule for school districts that start earlier than the last Monday of August until Labor Day.  Although we had the option to rehearse more and add weekend rehearsals the following two weeks, this Saturday is the ONLY additional rehearsal besides our regular mornings.  There is NO rehearsal the following Saturday or on Labor Day!

All band students (minus Color Guard) should have a flip folder to hold marching band music.  Mr. Singleton has them available for sale for only $5.

Please keep sharing our SNAP Raise website so that we can beat last year’s total!

Have a great first week,

Levi Chavis
