Director Update: Week of April 30th

We have a BUSY week ahead of us!

Leadership interviews (for ALL who applied for a 2018-2019 position) are TOMORROW!  Students signed up for times either before school, during their band class or after school.  This is a formal interview, so please dress accordingly!

Section leader auditions are TUESDAY for Brass/Percussion and THURSDAY for Woodwinds.  These start at 7am and will be done by 9am each day.

Drum major auditions are on WEDNESDAY!  The ENTIRE band is invited to come watch Drum Major candidates conduct the Fight Song and Alma Mater live before school!   Wind Ensemble begins at 8am on Wednesday – they will be playing for drum majors.

Band students should be working on Band audition music – Band auditions are next week!

All band classes will be rehearsing new music for our Spring Concert on Tuesday, May 15.

Band Banquet May 11th (RSVP by May 4th)

The LHHS Wildcat Band Banquet is fast approaching.

What: LHHS Wildcat Band Banquet

Who’s invited: All LHHS Wildcat Band & Color Guard Students AND Student Parents with RSVP

When: Friday, May 11th – Doors open at 6 pm, dinner starts at 6:30 pm; band students are also invited for an after-party upstairs until 10 pm.

Where: Park Cities Baptist Church, Great Hall; 3933 Northwest Parkway, Dallas, TX 75225

**RSVP Required by Friday, May 4th**: $20 per person (Senior students are free.) Drop check (made out to LHABC) or cash in band hall safe along with RSVP card (or just include on envelope: ”Band Banquet”/Name/Email address/How many tickets purchased/graduating senior name if applicable.)

Menu: Grilled Chicken Parmesan, Homemade Italian Meatballs, Homemade Marinara on the side, Fettuccini with light olive oil on the side, Parmesan Green Beans, Traditional Caesar Salad, Garlic Bread & Assorted Sweets. Yum!!

Dress attire: Semi-formal or “Best Sunday Dress”

Jazz Under the Stars!

Don’t miss Jazz Under the Stars on May 3rd!

Food Trucks will be open at 6PM and the concert will start at 7PM. The concert will feature the LHJH Jazz Band, The LHHS Jazz Ensemble and the LHHS Jazz Orchestra.

2.  Sign up and send desserts for our dessert bar to help support the Jazz program.

Enjoy great music, tasty food, and fellowship on the field. Everyone is welcome!


Director Updates: Week of April 9th


Sectional schedules have been updated on the band’s calendar.  Due to testing and upcoming UIL evaluation, there have been some adjustments to schedules. Please double-check the website to clarify!


UIL itinerary for all 3 bands:  2018 UIL itinerary.

Please remember that this is our biggest event of the spring semester! ALL students must be wearing full formal uniform (including LONG socks for boys and ties/cumberbunds).  We would absolutely love to see friends and family at our performances — all bands perform at Richardson High School.

Upcoming Meetings

LHABC General Meeting on Tuesday night at 7pm in the Band Hall!

Our MANDATORY Spring Trip meeting will be immediately following at 8pm.  This will be our only chance to go over the detailed itinerary and make sure everyone understands what is needed for the trip the following week.

Leadership 101

Leadership 101 begins Monday, April 9th, after school — these meetings/trainings are for anyone who is interested in a leadership position in the Wildcat Band.  If you have a conflict with any of the scheduled meetings, please e-mail Mr. Singleton.


Congratulations to Mr. Martinez and our wonderful Winter Guard on a successful season.  They finished their competition season on Saturday with a score of 72.02 at the NTCA Championships at Flower Mound HS.  They put on a beautiful show!

April & May Events

There are a lot of fun things happening during April that we don’t want you to miss out on. Be sure to check out the table below with all the dates and events happening in April & some dates in May to mark on your calendar as well.

The spring trip to Corpus Christi is almost here.  There will be a MANDATORY meeting on April 10th at 8PM for those going on the Spring Trip. The trip is Friday, April 20th through Monday, April 23rd.  We will be giving out the itinerary/schedule and other information about the trip at this meeting.  If you have not registered for or completed your payments for the trip, please get in touch with Mr. Chavis ( to make plans to do so.
