UIL and South Coast Music Festival Results

Congratulations to our Band Students and Directors on outstanding performances at UIL and at the South Coast Music Festival in Corpus Christi!

Last week, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Concert Band performed three pieces each for the UIL competition.  Here are their results:

Wind Ensemble – All 1s in Concert and Sight-reading (“Sweepstakes”)

Symphonic Band– All 1s in Concert and Sight-reading (“Sweepstakes”)

Concert Band – All 2s in Concert and 2-1-2 in Sight-reading  (A strong performance in their first UIL competition in many years!)

The students who participated in the Corpus Christi trip also performed at the South Coast Music Festival.  All three bands received a “First Division-Superior” rating.

The talent runs deep in our band program.  With about 80 incoming freshmen, there is even greater growth and more accomplishments in the future of Lake Highlands bands!

Weekly Update: April 24th

A HUGE THANKS to our band, staff and chaperones for a very successful trip to Corpus Christi.  All three bands played well and all three received “First Division” trophies!
Now, let’s all make that final push to graduation!

Retirement Reception for Phil Alvarado

We are also collecting donations for a gift from parents and families to be given to Mr. Alvarado at the reception.  If you would like to donate (and have your name included on the card), please contact Melanie Gilmore at 214-893-5795 or nmgilmore@hotmail.com.  Although not required, if you would prefer to bring an individual card or gift, that is fine as well.

Also, if you have any special memories or pictures that you would like to share, please email them to Cary Pillers at clpillers@gmail.com.  Deadline for submission is Tuesday, May 2, so we can include them in a memory book that will be presented to him.

Please join us as the Wildcat Band Family celebrates a new beginning for Mr. Alvarado!
